ADVISORY NOTICE

MAGIC PALACE UPDATE

(MOHAWK TERRITORY OF KAHNAWAKE – October 19, 2023) – The Kahnawake Gaming Commission (the “Commission”) has been consistently licensing and regulating both online and land-based gaming for over 27 years. The Commission has always been guided by the principles set out in the Kahnawake Gaming Law, and in particular, “to ensure that gaming and gaming related activities within the Territories are conducted fairly, honestly and in the best interests of the Mohawk People of Kahnawake”.

The Commission is greatly concerned about recent allegations that have been made regarding Magic Palace. In addition to its decision to terminate a Key Person Licence – see KGC Advisory Notice Decision to Refuse Permit – the Commission has directed that immediate steps be taken to thoroughly review the operations of Magic Palace and Mirela’s Restaurant, using professional third-party agents. The Commission will then decide, based on the information it receives, what additional steps must be taken to ensure Kahnawake’s best interests are protected. Throughout this process, the Commission will work collaboratively with the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake and the Kahnawake Peacekeepers.

The Commission will keep the Community apprised of further developments in this matter.
