Kahnawà:ke Gaming Commission receiving Expressions of Interest Regarding Proposed Poker Room Licenses

In August 2010, the Kahnawà:ke Gaming Commission (the “Commission”) resolved not to receive any further applications for Poker Room licenses. As a result of interest expressed by community members, the Commission is considering whether to rescind its 2010 resolution and receive new applications for a Poker Room license under its Regulations concerning Poker Rooms (the “Regulations”).

Before making a decision on this matter, the Commission will be consulting with a number of Kahnawà:ke agencies to satisfy itself that accepting new applications for a Poker Room license would not be detrimental to peace, order or security within the Territory.

To assist the Commission in gauging community interest in Poker Room licenses, the Commission will receive Expressions of Interest from Kahnawà:keró:non who have a serious interest in applying for a Poker Room license under the Regulations.

It is important to note that an Expression of Interest is not an application for a Poker Room license. Applications will only be received by the Commission if and when it makes a decision to rescind its 2010 resolution and receive new applications. If the Commission decides to receive applications for a new Poker Room license, the community will be asked for its input in relation to the proposed location of a any new poker room.

Interested persons must fully complete the “Expression of Interest” form which may be obtained here. It must be received by the Commission on or before 12:00 (noon) on July 15, 2020 by mailing it to P.O. Box 1799, Kahnawà:ke, QC J0L 1B0 or emailing to info@gamingcommission.ca
